Meet Mustang Marie

Oh hey there. I'm Mustang Marie, and this is my story. It's quite simple really... I'm pretty sure I was a car in a previous life (it's really the only explanation I have for my fascination of classic cars). Even at a young age, I established a preference for classic cars: imports and exotics didn’t really tickle my fancy. There was something about the history and stories that classic cars possess; their look, their smell, their sound; qualities, in my opinion, beat anything on the road today.

But, why the Mustang? What is it about this car that overshadows everything else? Not only is the Ford Mustang one of the greatest all-American muscle cars the world has ever seen, but the 50+ year legacy this car possesses and the community of car lovers it has single-handedly brought together, is absolutely mind-blowing. Back in 1964, this car was made for the people, and we have never forgotten about that.

Throughout the years, I have learned more and more about the Ford Mustang. I’ve been to countless car shows, both big and small, but there’s something about a first-generation Mustang that always brings tears of joy to my eyes. I immediately associate love, passion, power, strength, freedom; all qualities that I admire and aspire to be. It’s been over 20 years since I first discovered this car, and I’ve never looked back. In the past five years, I’ve devoted my time and hobby to all-things Ford Mustang. I’ve read countless books, memorized VIN codes, learned about her history, and have gone to countless events. One of the most memorable events happened in 2010 when I attended the Shelby Gala at the Canadian International Autoshow and met the legendary Carroll Shelby (what a glorious day that was).

Accomplishments

I have been able to make connections with some great names: RM Auctions, Legendary Motorcar, Canadian Automotive Museum, Mustangs Plus (Stockon, CA), California Mustang (San Jose, CA), DenBeste Motorsports (Windsor, CA), Barrett-Jackson, Ford Motor Company, MCA (Mustang Club of America), Autostrada Forum, and RK Motors just to name a few.

The Future

What’s in Mustang Marie’s future? Now that I own my very own Mustang, I have so many plans for her. Raven and I will embark on a Route 66 road trip in 2022. It’s been a bucket list item for both my father and I, and I can’t wait for that journey. She’ll also be featured at the Woodward Dream Cruise and Mustang Memories show in August 2021 (pandemic dependant). In the more distant future though, I’ll be living the Mustang lifestyle one incredible day at a time. I’m also going to keep doing what I do best: informing and educating the community about the Ford Mustang, with a particular focus and passion for the first-gen years. As I continue to travel to more car shows, meet new people and make new connections, it will help keep the preservation of these cars and their history well and alive. So, here’s to the Ford Mustang: a classic beauty, with a heart of power and a body that makes any car buff’s knees weak.
